Hundreds of people died, and thousands of people were left without their homes. In the years after, preservation and restoration works took place to protect the town from falling into further decay. These efforts are still proceeding very slowly, and political wrongdoing isn’t helping the progress either. Unfortunately, this might be one of the many Italian towns that vanishes from existence.
