This is the Ace of Hearts from a pack of cards produced by Charles Goodall in 1897 to celebrate Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, 60 years as Queen of Britain and its overseas dominions. The court cards (picture cards) display former monarchs of Britain, along with their names and dates, and this pack was issued without a joker. The four aces offer a potted history of England's royal succession and coats of arms. The Ace of Hearts represents Richard the Lionheart (Richard I of England), who first used the three lions as a symbol on England's coat of arms in the 12th century.
