Nieuwland is a district in the northern part of the Dutch city of Amersfoort, built as a so-called Vinex district. The district was constructed in the rural area of the former municipality of Hoogland; it borders the village center of Hoogland and the district of Kattenbroek to the south, Bunschoterstraat (N199) to the west, the A1 motorway to the north, and the Calveen industrial area to the east. The urban development plan for the district was created by the Wissing office in Barendrecht. Construction began in 1995. The architectural concept of Nieuwland is based on sustainable urban development, high quality, and environmental friendliness. The area, with more than 4,500 homes, was completed at the end of 2001.
