Belgian playing cards follow the French style of suits, with clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades. At this time, it was felt that there was a market for Spanish-style cards, with their four suits Copas (Cups / Hearts), Oros (Gold Coins / Diamonds), Bastos (Clubs) and Espadas (Swords / Spades).
