The mosaic on the central tympanum (above the main gate) of the 19th-century Duomo was crafted in Venice in 1886 based on designs by Nicolò Barabino. It shows Christ seated on a throne, flanked by the Virgin Mary and St John the Baptist. It also includes local saints, notably St Reparata and St Zenobius, who serve as patrons of Florence.
