The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, situated above Mġarr Harbour in Gozo, Malta, was built in 1888 and officially opened in 1893. It was designed by architect Giuseppe Bonavia in the neo-Gothic style, inspired by the Marian apparitions reported in Lourdes, France, in 1858. The site was chosen to overlook the harbor, providing a symbolic watch over the arrival and departure of ships. The church was originally intended to serve the pastoral needs of workers and travelers associated with the harbor. Over time, it became a prominent pilgrimage site, especially on the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes, celebrated annually on February 11.
