Ebomi lake, hidden away in Ipese Akoko, about 130km from Akure. The word Ebomi is from “Abami” which means Mystery, because the locals could not describe the features of the lake. Next to it is River Ose, both flowing beside each other separated by a stretch of rock. The lake is about 1.5 km by about 45 metres, also called the “bottomless lake” because the depth is unknown. The lake is a wild life site and it is very sad that the site is still untapped. I was told that squirrels, wild pigs and various birds can be seen around the lake. There is a carnival on 27th December every year held at the lake by the villager of Ipese Akoko and this is about the best time to go there.
