This is the Jack of Clubs from a pack of cards produced by Charles Goodall in 1897 to celebrate Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, 60 years as Queen of Britain and its overseas dominions. The court cards (picture cards) display former monarchs of Britain, along with their names and dates, and this pack was issued without a joker. This Jack is shown as the Black Prince, Edward of Woodstock (1330 – 1376). He was the eldest son of King Edward III of England and Philippa of Hainault, and the father of King Richard II of England. He was also the first Duke of Cornwall (from 1337), and the Prince of Wales from 1343.
