This is the King of Clubs from an antique (1880) pack of cards that features views and costumes from Switzerland. The title for the pack is Vues & Costumes suisse. Each court card (picture card) features the arms of two Swiss cantons, or member states. The King of Clubs features the arms of Bale (Basel) and Glaris (Glarus). Each court card also displays two different Swiss national costumes. The pack was issued by Jean Muller of Schaffhouse in Switzerland, and each of the 52 card backs depicts a different scene from Switzerland.
