The right image shows the knee from the front (ventral, ap - anterior-posterior), the left from the side (lateral). The kneecap (patella) in front of the thigh bone (femur) can only be guessed from the front in the view. Clearly visible is the shin (tibia) and somewhat weaker, since considerably duenner, outside next to it the calf bone (fibula). Clearly visible are the two condyles of the thigh, which seem to float similarly like sled runners above the plateau of the shin head. In fact, the condyles as well as the shin plateau are covered with a layer of cartilage. Furthermore, these are separated by the menisci. Like the Baender, these are not visible in the Roentgen image (but in magnetic resonance imaging). If the joint gap in the Roentgen image appears very narrow or is even suspended, this is the result of abrasion on cartilage and meniscus, i.e. knee joint wear (arthrosis). [899331292] stock photo
