Schools of Solderfish and Snappers at Blue Corner
High Resolution JPEG Picture of While the upper plateau of the famous Blue Corner reef at a depth of 10m hardly has any large corals (the storms are too strong at this exposed point), larger coral formations can survive at 17m. They offer shelter to several fish species. Blotcheye Solderfishes Myripristis berndti occurs in the Indo-Pacific and the Eastern Pacific in a depth range from 3 to 160m, feeds mainly on plankton such as crab larvae. Max. length 30cm, common 22cm. Common Bluestripe Snapper Lutjanus kasmira occurs throughout most of the Indo-Pacific region in a depth range from 2-265m, common length 25cm, max. 40cm.
