Tuatara reptile new zealand
High Resolution JPEG Picture of Tuatara is a reptile from New Zealand. Although resembling most lizards, they are part of a distinct lineage. The single species of tuatara is the only surviving member of its order, which flourished around 200 million years ago. Their name derives from the Māori language, and means "peaks on the back". They are the last survivors of an order of reptiles that thrived in the age of the dinosaurs. This image was shot with a Nikon D3s camera and a Tamron 16 – 300mm lens. This photograph will make a great picture for the family room or office.
