Here are two sixpences, silver coins both dated 1936. (Actually, by this date, British coins were only half made of silver.) One of them has had a hard life, showing wear and black oxidisation of the metal. The other, possibly with the benefit of some later cleaning, looks almost as detailed as when it was first minted. 1936 was in the reign of King George V, whose portrait adorns the obverse / front of these two coins.
