Mount Siguniang is composed of four connected peaks. The main peak, Yaomei Peak, is known as the "Alps of the East". It is located at 102.9 degrees east longitude and 31.1 degrees north latitude. It is the highest peak in the Qionglai Mountains. In October 2023, the Ministry of Natural Resources of China announced that the elevation data of Mount Siguniang was 6247.8 meters. On the south side of Yaomei Peak are three peaks: Sanguniang Peak (elevation 5,355 meters), Ergnuniang Peak (elevation 5,276 meters), and Daganguni Peak (elevation 5,025 meters). Among the four peaks of Siguniang Mountain, Yaomei Peak is the most difficult to climb. In 1981, a Japanese mountaineering team completed the first ascent. The second and third peaks are entry-level peaks for mountaineering and require certain climbing skills. Climbing the big peak is relatively simple. Climbers usually start from Rilong Town and go to the base camp of each peak via Haizigou or Changpinggou. "Si Gu" is originally the transliteration of Tibetan. Because there happened to be four peaks, the local Han people later mistakenly thought that "Si Gu" was Chinese and changed the name to "Siguniang".
